With support from Provincial & Municipal governments, all services are available at minimal or no charge to residents.
Barons-Eureka-Warner Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is a multi-municipal organization governed by a Board of Directors and adheres to the FCSS mandate.
THE FCSS MANDATE
FCSS is an 80/20 funding partnership between municipalities or Métis settlements, and the Province, provided through the FCSS Act and Regulation. The Regulation sets out the service requirements that a municipality or Métis settlement must meet to be eligible for funding. For more information: Alberta.ca/Family-Community/
Barons-Eureka-Warner Family and Community Support Services also receive partial funding for Parent Link Centre’s within our communities. Alberta’s Network of 57 Parent Link Centre’s (PLC’s) provide parents and caregivers with free resources and supports.

Each year BEW FCSS hosts an annual event to share and celebrate the impact of FCSS within our region. At this event, a Year in Review report is shared to illustrate the positive impact within the communities.

Primary Service Descriptions:
Objective: To strengthen and support individuals, families and communities by providing professional counselling services to people experiencing stress or difficulties in their life. To reduce family and social breakdown by providing and promoting family life education. To encourage and facilitate the development of self-help groups by enhancing personal awareness and mental well being.
Primarly delivers counselling services in the following areas: individual, couple relationship and family. Family Life Education focuses on presenting courses and workshops that promote and address the social and mental health needs of the community. Self-help groups are promoted and organized. Community development, interagency participation and collaboration are actively initiated and pursued.
Objective: To enhance parenting skills and abilities through support and education that is accessible to local families.
Idientifies community needs to match with support services aimed at developing strong, healthy families. Parent Link Services are designed to bring quality parenting information and support to families in their communities in a variety of ways, such as:
- Offering individual support
- Distributing parenting information and resources
- Offering short and longer-term educational programs
- Building support networks
- Organizing and facilitating support groups
Objective of Program: To improve health and wellness of seniors and assist them in maintaining optimal levels of independence without undue risk.
In an effort to prevent disability and preserve independence in the aging population, education workshops and presentations are given within our area to both seniors and their families. We hope the information gained will enable seniors to make choices that will improve their health and well-being.
Personal assistance is also given to seniors regarding pensions, Alberta Benefit packages, and understanding how to access information.
Objective: To support youth by providing education, empowerment, leadership and mentoring. The opportunity is focused on providing resources, expanding individual coping strategies and creating safe spaces for youth to develop their skills for success in life.
Objective: To enrich and extend the amount and variety of services we provide with the assistance of volunteers – by acting as a liaison between programs, community and volunteers.
Barons-Eureka-Warner Family & Community Support Services is governed by a 16 member Board appointed by local municipal councils. The Board is currently composed of the following members:
