The objective of offering this key service is to strengthen and support individuals, families and communities by providing professional counselling services to residents experiencing stress or difficulties in their life.
To achieve this objective FCSS Counsellors provide counselling services to foster healthy relationships, reduce family and social breakdown as well as to encourage and enhance personal awareness and mental well being.
Information and Referral
Clients whose needs and expectations fall outside our scope of service are offered assistance with identifying other service options. Clients are provided referral assistance, such as contact information, help to complete forms or assistance with faxing or emailing forms if required.
Circle of Rhythm: Healing Through Drumming
This program is intended to connect individuals and create healthy communities. Circle of Rhythm is run in two individual groups, one for adults and another for youth ages 10-12 years old.
Support group for adults, 19 yrs and older, who have lost loved ones and are attempting to navigate through the maze of hurt, sorrow, and heartache of grief.
One on One Support
Counselling services are intended to help people better understand their struggles and empower them to make choices that will serve them well in their lives. Given the shorter-term nature of our services, those with mental health concerns, chronic issues and/or addiction issues will be referred to alternate services. Presentations and Workshops
Presentations offered by the FCSS Counselling team strengthen and enrich individual and family well-being. Topics may include: marriage education, parenting skills, anger and stress management and more.
Rainbows For All Children
This is a 12 week program that helps children who are grieving the loss of a parent or guardian due to death, divorce, deployment, or trauma. Parents also attend their own sessions, so they are able to understand their own grief/loss and how to support their child outside of the group.
Support Group Facilitation
Support Groups provides the opportunity to receive support and strategies from an FCSS counsellor as well as from others experiencing similar struggles.
