The objective of this service is to provide resources, information and support to youth and their parents (or caregivers) as individuals navigate through the teen years.
To achieve this objective FCSS staff offer a variety of community and school programs to assist youth in their day to day lives.
These presentations may involve a variety of topics such as stress, anxiety, bullying, resiliency, self-esteem, healthy relationships and personal responsibility. The presentations are built around the 40 Developmental Assets model to support the development of personal and life skills.

Book Club - The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens
This Book Club is designed to teach teens, ages 12-19 years of age, the 7 habits, core principles and practices that help lead teens towards a more purposeful, healthy, vibrant and successful future.

Information regarding services is provided. Presentations, individual consultation and referrals can be made on a variety of topics and services can be arranged.
Rainbows For All Children
A 12 week program that helps children who are grieving the loss of a parent or guardian due to death, divorce, deployment, or trauma.
“Me” On Purpose Remote/Online
This online educational program is designed to help empower youth, ages 12 to 18, to learn more about themselves (values, beliefs, habits), what matters to them and why, where they are now and where they want to be in the future.
Bullying & Harassment Awareness
This discussion focuses on identifying bullying and harassment: the various types, negative ways to use power, emotions and feelings, 5 basic emotional needs, the cycle of hurt and self-care.
Setting Healthy Boundaries
An interactive presentation exploring the "traffic light" approach to boundaries and to explore less helpful boundaries.
Wellness & Me Remote/Online
An online educational support group for children ages 9 to 12 that is designed to introduce evidence based wellness principles and practices, including gratitude, compassion & kindness, mindfulness, self compassion, optimism, forgiveness, social connections/relationships, and caring for your bodies.
Making Mindfulness Moments Remote/Online
Learn to better manage stress by focusing your awareness on the present and developing a different way of relating to your experiences. Participants complete activities and discuss them in a secure online forum at their leisure.
Coalhurst Youth Centre Programs
Activities will vary dependent on age group, size of the group, youth interest. It is intended to provide a safe, local source of entertainment for the youth in Coalhurst. Click for more information.
Youth Counselling and Support
Counselling services are offer specifically to youth to assist with the unique needs and struggles which often occur during this time of development.
