Volunteer Services

To promote, encourage, and support volunteer work in the FCSS service area.
  • FCSS Volunteer Services connects residents to volunteer opportunities both within and outside of FCSS.

To volunteer with FCSS, you must do the following:

  • Get a Criminal Record with vulnerable sector check, and Children’s Services Intervention Check.

  • Complete FCSS’s Volunteer Application.

  • Attend a Volunteer Orientation with the Volunteer Services Coordinator where you will complete all other paperwork.

  • FCSS is recruiting volunteers to help complete taxes through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. A basic understanding of taxes is all you need!
    • Complete taxes on your own time.
    • File taxes in March and April of each year.
    • All supplies needed to file taxes are provided (laptop, tax filing software, paper, printer, etc.)
  • FCSS is recruiting volunteers for early childhood and youth programs. Volunteering can take place in any community that FCSS provides programming. Duties include:
    • Set up and take down for programming.
    • Snack preparation.
    • Engaging with infants, children, youth, and/or families.

 

  • FCSS is recruiting volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels in Picture Butte and Coaldale. Duties include:
    • Delivering meals to seniors in the Town of Coaldale or the Town of Picture Butte for at least one week per year (at lunch and/or supper time)
    • Volunteers must have access to a vehicle.
  • FCSS hosts many events throughout the FCSS service area that require the help of volunteers. These events are usually a single day and do not require an on-going commitment. Duties include:
    • Set up and take down for events.
    • Entertainment (music, etc.).
    • Engage with children, youth, and/or families.
  • FCSS can host practicum students who are completing post-secondary in Counselling or Child and Youth Care.
    • FCSS takes two Counselling Practicum Students each semester. For more information, contact Michael Fedunec.

  • Each year during National Volunteer Week, FCSS recognizes volunteers in the FCSS service area. This year, three volunteers were recognized for their efforts sharing their time, skills, empathy, and creativity.
