Senior Services

To help preserve seniors’ independence, FCSS provides programs and services to both seniors and their families. These programs enable seniors to make choices that will improve their health and well-being.

Programs and services available to seniors and their families are as follows:

  • Presentations/Seminars: Presentations are offered on a wide range of topics to support the wellness of seniors in their everyday lives.
  • Information and Support: Seniors, families, and caregivers can receive information on a variety or resources, including personal directives, Alberta Seniors Benefits, and Old Age Security benefits (among others).
  • Intergenerational Programs: Connecting seniors and youth allows them to share knowledge and develop local friendships.
  • Referrals: FCSS is well connected with other community organizations. If we are unable to support you, we will find someone who can!

Need help applying? Contact the Senior Services Coordinator at (587) 370-8518. 

  • What is the Snow Angels Program? The Snow Angels Program aims to encourage neighbours to help one another by volunteering to shovel snow for community members who are unable to clear their own sidewalks.

  • Where is it offered? This is a pilot program, so it is only available in the Town of Coaldale and the Town of Coalhurst.  For more information about a Snow Angels program in other municipalities, please reach out to your local town office.

  • How it works:

    • Coalhurst:  Residents in need of help can contact FCSS Volunteer Services at (403) 915-7063. Complete an application form.

    • Coaldale:  Contact FCSS Outreach Services Supervisor at (403) 795-4627 or Kaitlynn.Weaver@fcss.ca.  Complete the application form.

    • To be eligible, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

      1. Must reside at the property.
      2. Have a condition or disability preventing them from participating in snow removal activities
      3. Not have any other able-bodied person residing in their home to assist.
    • Once the application has been received and approved, you will receive a sign to display. We will deliver the sign and set it up.
