CELEBRATING DIVERSE CANADA

Canada is a diverse country, home to many different groups of people, cultures, and traditions. This Canada Day, and throughout July, we encourage you to experience different cultures in and around your community.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Attend a Canada Day event! In many communities, Canada Day events include diverse cultural displays or performances. Talk to someone you’ve never met before and connect with them about their culture.
  • Attend community events and festivals. There are many cultural events that take place throughout the summer months.
  • Explore a local museum or art gallery. Canada was built by diverse cultures who came together to create something beautiful. Art galleries and museums are a great place to learn more about history and culture.
  • Try a new food from a different culture’s cuisine.
  • Speak with a senior about their experiences living in or moving to Canada.
  • Read a book that describes another culture.

Each suggestion can help you learn and experience different cultures throughout the region. Feel free to add in your own ideas!

FCSS offers programs and services for all individuals in the region, including specific supports for newcomers and Indigenous families. For more information about FCSS programs and services, please visit our website at www.fcss.ca.
